Can anyone explain Newton's first law to me?

It says that if you have an object that sits still (ex: a soccer ball) it won't move until it is acted on by another force (ex: your foot kicking it). Also, an object that is moving (ex: car) will continue moving until it is acted on by another force (ex: car's breaks). I hope this helped. Also, an unbalanced force is one that has to be large enough to move the object (if you hit a soccer ball with a post-it note it wouldn't move because the post-it note is not of an equal or greater mass as the soccer ball).
