It's not alright to be homophobic because it is akin to bigotry. Why would anyone actually want to be a bigot? A for your argument, it fails on the grounds that it is a slippery slope argument. People made similar slippery slope arguments to ban the sale of alcohol in the country. In the end, it was evident their arguments were poorly constructed, as the repeal of the 18th Amendment did not cause the downfall of civilization.
